WHEN DID THESE splendid words occur to Emerson? Perhaps one day when the harvest was ready to be gathered home and the bright fields rippled in the wind, wheat for the winter’s bread. For, ages ago, wheat was thought to be a weed, quite useless to man kind.
Perhaps on that day, looking at the ripe bronze fields, Emerson was returning from a visit to his friend the teacher Bronson Alcott–that tireless, undefeatable, unquenchable man–and paused to reflect on Alcott’s stubborn insistence that it was never the “bad boy” or the dullard who was to blame but those who lacked the patience and the care to probe beneath the surface for what was good, however unpromising or unfriendly that surface might be. There were no “weeds” in Bronson Alcott’s schoolroom.
So many times, in clinic and hospital ward, have I seen the apparently hopeless misfit transformed into a hopeful and helpful person–a giver, not a taker–by the simplest display of interest and belief in him. It always makes me wonder how many good citizens, creators and builders and contributors to our common health as a nation, have been lost because someone, somewhere, was misled by the husk and did not see the golden grain within.
I suppose it comes down to this: Our first “must” for everyday should be to pause before passing judgement, remembering that the apparently useless weed in the dirt of the roadside may, with care and cultivation, provide tomorrow’s bread.

Forgiving Yourself Is the First Step to Success
Okay so its day 2 of me deciding to make 1 million dollars within 365 days? I wonder if I can really do this? Well I guess we will find out!!!!
Well let me tell you a little bit about me. I am a recent MBA graduate, I have a 3 year old boy names Isaiah and I works from home, because it allows me to be with him all day. Now a little about about my finances! Currently, I am broke!! I am so broke that I will be filing bankruptcy this month. The reason I am broke is because I started a business October of 2008 and put my life savings into it and it went belly up. Then I had a hard time getting a job to supplement my income. Oh yeah I am also getting a divorce! So all in all 2009 SUCKED. But I am determine to make 2010 better!
Even though all this bad stuff was going on I never stop reading and learning. One of the best books I can across about mind set was Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. What I love about the book is it talks about forgiving yourself RIGHT NOW for all your passed failures….the book goes to say that people have a hard time accomplishing their goals because they never forgive themselves for failing. They believe they are undeserving of new found success. So they stop trying……Sad
So even though I am about to officially file for bankruptcy and divorce! I am going to forgive myself RIGHT NOW for those failures. Those failures will not define me!!!!!!!!! So here I go
- Jose your first business went under and you lost all my money, but I forgive you
- Jose because of you I will have a bankruptcy on my credit report, but I forgive you
- Jose you couldn’t make your marriage work, but I forgive you
Wow it may should stupid but I feel better about 2009. I can’t go back and change what happen, but from this day forward I am a new man.

Making the Most of the New Year!
Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!
I love the Beginning of the Year! I don’t care what people say about New Year resolutions, I believe everyone should be working on something that makes them a better “them” What I love about New Years resolutions is it is a great time to reflect on the past year. What did you like about 2009? What would you like to change? There is a lot about 2009 that could have been better. There is a lot that I did not accomplish and will be working on those unreached goals in 2010.
My three main goals for 2010 are!
Reach my ideal weight of 220lb!
Right Now I am 263. So the way I see it I need to lose 43lbs in 52 weeks. So that works out to 1.2lbs a week! I know I can lose 1.2lbs a week for the next 52 weeks. I believe if you want to reach your goals you need to make them realistic! To many people dream too big, which in my opinion there is nothing wrong in reaching for the stars. You just need to break down your goals in manageable pieces!
My second goal is to write a book this year!
No sure on what? but more then likely it will be about Copy-writing or maybe Marketing? Either way I understand that if I am to accomplish this goal I will need to create a mind map of my skills and determine which of the two I am stronger in!
My last goal is really a goal within a goal!
The other night I was watching Julia/Julia with my girlfriend. It is about a lady named Julia who wanted to make a change in her life, but didn’t know how. The only thing she knew was she liked to cook, so she decided to tackle Julia Child’s “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” The idea was she was going to cook one meal a day out of the book for the next 365 days and then blog about it! What I loved about that is it made Julia accountable, even if no one every read her blog and it made her work on her goal every single day. The biggest reason people NEVER reach their goals is because one their goals are never defined! Two they never set a deadline! Three they never hold themselves accountable! and Four they don’t work on them everyday! So what I am going to do for the next 365 days is work on making 1 million dollars! That’s right my final goal is to make my First Million Dollars. Honestly I am not sure how I am going to do it, but I am going to make myself accountable to YOU, whoever YOU are! So everyday I am going to post my “What I have done that day to reach my goal of earning 1 Million Dollars” I would love comments and tips for those that have already reached this massive goal! I know its crazy,” but it’s better to reach for the stars, the worst that happens is I hit the moon!” Wish me Luck!
